FULL-HD LCD TV SHARP Aquos LC-37GE1E

The new Sharp Aquos LC-37GE1E is one of the first Full HD certified LCD TV's on the market. At 37”, which translates roughly to 94 cm, the model is ideal pick for every living room. This sucker weights around 32 kgs, and one person can carry it around with difficulty.

Very elegantly lines are sole description of Aquos, especially when even some of the newest Sony and Panasonic models look like big computer monitors… With black gray finish Aquos, and the speaker system in the bottom panel under the LCD panel, LC-37GE1E elegantly merges with any surroundings.

The main power on/off button is located at the top of the screen, paired with most important keys. The remote control is fairly large and sits in the hand nicely. Although the keys could be a bit larger one can use it without problems almost immediately. On the back side there are bunch of inputs, power plug and two fans that cool the LCD panel and electronics.

The fans noise can be almost neglectable, as one can hear it only when TV is turned on and there the sound is muted. And even when you sit on the couch few meters away if can not be heard no more.

The inputs consist of 2x HDMI ports (v1.3 compliant), 2 SCARTs (rgb and s-video) and DB15 D-SUB. Of course there is composite video along with the stereo inputs for the sound. There are no component inputs, but the cable with component on one and D-SUB connector on the other end can be found in the box.

We tested the unit with Xoros new HD dvd/divx player, and with Microsoft's Xbox360. Xoro had the HDMI output, but only supported 720p and 1080i. Xbox360 with latest firmware patch on the other hand supports 1080p, but has only component video outputs – which on this Sharp LCD TV do not support the 1080p signal!

Technology

Although the model just came to the market, word from the channel is, that Sharp is already preparing the refreshed model. What will be the differences is unknown at this time.

Conclusion

So if you need the Full HD TV today, and you have some HD content source other than Xbox360 then I can warmly recommend the LC-37GE1E. If you have Sony's PS3 then this TV will rock your world, especially since it produces great picture.

Pros: 2x HDMI, great picture, Full HD 1080p, 3 years warranty

Cons: no 1080p input with component video cables, some people can hear high pitched noise
